New Patients

All adult new patients are seen by Dr. Banh at their initial appointment for a Complete Oral Examination (COE).  The COE will likely be the most important appointment you will have at our office.  At this appointment, we get to know each of our new patients on an individual basis and discuss all concerns you may have regarding your teeth.  We collect information about your oral condition and create a personalized treatment plan that will not only help to fix current problems, but also help to prevent future ones from occuring.  Dr. Banh is a firm believer in the adage: "Fail to plan, plan to fail".

What's involved in a COE?:

1) Thorough review of your medical and dental history.

2) Head and neck exam, oral cancer screening, and evaluation of your jaw joints.

3) Examination of your gums for gingivitis and periodontal disease.

4) Thorough assessment of your teeth to detect cavities, infection, and to determine the condition of existing fillings.

5) We will review all radiographs provided by your previous dentist, and take new x-rays when necessary to detect disease and/or decay that cannot be seen visually.

6) Intra-oral photos of your teeth and mouth.

7) For cases that are more complicated, molds of your teeth may be taken for further study and evaluation.

8) A detailed summary of your oral condition and a review of your personalized treatment plan recommendations to help ensure a lifetime of oral health.
